About Nikkay Shears
Born in Los Angeles and raised between East LA and South Side Pomona, Nikkay Shears is a bilingual artist who blends her African American and Mexican heritage into her music. Raised by her Spanish-speaking mother and family, Spanish was her first language, though she transitioned to primarily speaking English after starting school. This duality is at the heart of her artistry, which fuses Latin urban, pop, alternative R&B, and hip hop.
Nikkay grew up skateboarding and attending alternative rock shows, shaping her electric sound. Thanks to her mother's influence, she developed a diverse taste in music, from jazz, cumbias to R&B and rock. Inspired by icons such as Aaliyah, Selena Quintanilla, Paramore, Sade, Amy Winehouse, The Fray, and Adele, she began writing songs as a child and has been releasing music professionally since 2018.
Nikkay's music reflects the ups and downs of love, drawing listeners into heartfelt stories of heartbreak, growth, and self-discovery.
